Yesterday

Chatted with bf over the phone after dinner for almost 1.5 hr and it felt good! I think that communication is most important in a relationship and putting a little time to share one's day is extremely essential to building the bond and feel closer! We used to talk more but we have been busy recently :(

After the call, the first thing I did was to quickly check if I was the one who made the outgoing call or him. Lucky is him! Hahaha. I only have 300 free minutes, cannot anyhow use!

We continued chatting on fb after that and suddenly, he called asking me to open my door. He came to pass me surprise supper! :D

It has been some time since he last did that! He told me that he actually wanted to drive over earlier (so that he can go back and catch the 9pm drama zzz) but I was talking to him on the phone and delayed his plans (and made him missed the show eventually) Haha.

A reminder to self:
live in the moment. don't worry about the past or future, because life will only lead to happier places. if it's meant to be, it will be. and if it's not, something better will come along. because life is always good.

Spent yesterday feeling very inspired. And I hope one day I would be living the life I have always dreamed! I wonder if it's possible for someone to have a blissful happy life with no obstacles or major hiccups? If possible, I want!!!! Can give me? Hahaha.

Friendship

Saw this article some time back and thought I'd like to share!

The article mentioned 5 type of friends.

1) Friends who make the effort.
I realize that among all my friends, there are some who would ask me out from time to time to catch up, etc. And then, there are also some that I would always be the one to ask. Sometimes, it just gets annoying when you are always the one asking, and after some time, you just can't be bothered anymore.

2) Friends who are genuinely happy for me when something good happens.
I know a few like that and I really cherish them :)

3) Friends who are upbeat.
I didn't quite agree with the author over this point. I feel that friendship is a two-way street and I don't believe in choosing "Happy friends" over "Unhappy friends". Quoting a comment on that article, "By rejecting a friend during a time of crisis or depression in their lives, you don't live up to your own definition of a friend. A friend should be there for you, in good times and bad times. Some times the bad times can go on for a long time. It's cruel to abandon a friend during these crises." People say they refuse to be with negative people because it brings negativity to their own lives. I feel that is being very selfish.

4) Friends who are up for anything.
I love friends who are like "OK LETS GO!" whenever any one of us suggests anything. People who I can count on to not back out last minute over stupid reasons like "tired", "moody", or "lazy".

5) Friends who are authentic (and supportive).
Quoting the article, "A true friend will tell you the truth -- and will let you know they'll always be on your side no matter what decision you make even if, in their opinion, it's the wrong one." Yes, I always think that a best friend should be supportive, no matter what it is. I always see quotes on how true friends are determined by how direct (and hurtful) they are, but I think it should be determined by how direct (and supportive) instead. Also, I do not think that being direct but rude and hurtful is anything a best friend should be.

Here are two more points that I want to add to the list.

6) Friends who make sure no one is left out.
Friends who make sure everyone in the group is equal and taken care of, and not leaving anyone out of any decision process. Friends who are easy going. For example, if something is dearly important to one of them, everyone else go out of their way to make sure it happens.

7) Friends who are Non-judgmental, Accepting, and Forgiving.
Calculative and petty friends are a huge headache and you'd always need to tiptoe carefully around them in case you step on their tails. That's why I always feel grateful when friends accept me the way I am together with my flaws and not pick over little things I might have done or said wrongly. Friends should know each other well enough to know that no one is being intentionally bad and have a bigger heart to not judge.

Nuffnang is 7!

Happy 7th Birthday Nuffnang! 不知不觉 I have been with Nuffnang for 7 years already!

Here are some photos from the celebration that night :) The theme was 007, so most of us dressed up in black! Everyone looked so glamorous!

My favourite photo from that night, with my current blog manager Qinxin! She was especially gorgeous that day! 眼前一亮!

It was held at Fullhouse, Clarke Quay! Pretty place for taking photos~!

With Rachell and Yutakis! Both suited up!

With pretty ladies Gwen, Jessica, and Mei Ting!

There was a photobooth corner with props and everyone had fun posing as cool villains/secret agents. With Ben, Peishi, Randy.

Check out Juli, who had the most outstanding outfit that day - a prisoner!!! She even smudged her body and created a "moustache" using makeup! The photos she took with Diya were hilarious! Never go Mediacorp act really is wasted. Haha!

With my previous blog manager Jayne! Although I'm not directly under her care now, but I will always remember how nice and thoughtful she was when handling my matters in the past! Even until now, she still occasionally messages me to catch up, comfort me when I post sad entries on Dayre, and very helpful when I asked for advice! Actually, I feel blessed that so far all the blog managers I've had at Nuffnang are fun-loving people who are genuinely good to me!

Wonderful performances by The Freshman!

And they did this. Everyone was so into the theme! Hahaha.

With Boss Ming! (Photo credit to Mei Ting)

Boss Ming spoke to us, followed by Jayne who introduced what's coming up for Nuffnang and I'm so excited for its launch soon! Then, they had some mini-awards presentation and cake cutting!

Group photo!!!

Love the earrings I wore that day! I was buying birthday presents for a friend when I suddenly saw this piece and fell in love with it at first sight and bought it for myself. Haha. It is a very heavy piece of earring though... Don't think I will wear it often.

My top of the day is from Femmex, completed with a pleated black skirt and purple bangle all from Femmex! I love the flattering cut and design of the top! Too bad I forgot to take a full-body shot~ Will wear it out again and must remember to take photos!

London Weight Management [Review]

During the past few months, I gained quite a bit of weight and looked significantly chubbier on my chin area and flabby on my arms. I am sure you all noticed on my recent photos right? I have been trying to eat less but sometimes it is just so hard to control! I drink at least 1 cup of ice milk tea every weekday and I know how fattening that can be. Gotta try getting rid of my cravings!

So anyway, when London Weight Management invited me to try their treatment, of course I said yes!

London Weight Management was established in 2000 and awarded the Best Beauty & Weight Loss Provider by AsiaOne People's Choice Awards in 2013, Best Body Weight Management by CozyCot Holy Grail Beauty Awards 2011 and many more. . Their weight management solutions has been extremely well-received by ladies facing weight issues and I am sure you have seen their ads with real women testifying the results!

I went to the latest new outlet at NEX, which is also the 11th. The other outlets are prominently located around the island at Novena Square, Ang Mo Kio Jubilee, Ngee Ann City, Singapore Post Centre, Tampines One, Clement Mall, Tiong Bahru Plaza, Woodlands Civic Centre and Yew Tee Point.

First, they took my height and weight to find out if I'm in the healthy weight range!

Afterwards was a one-on-one consultation and detailed body analysis to find out my problem areas & the severity of my weight problem. I was told that each customer will be assigned to one professionally trained consultant and she will be there for you throughout the whole treatment package.

I think this is a very good arrangement as you can be sure your consultants understands you best and it makes everything much more comfortable than if a different consultant serves you at every different appointment.

Another good thing is, every slimming programme at London is customized based on each individual customer’s weight problems, lifestyle and eating habits and by having an exclusive consultant, the weight loss progress can also be monitored carefully so that appropriate treatment adjustments can be implemented accordingly to ensure ideal results are achieved. So my consultant customised a treatment for me based on my problem areas and I'm ready to start!

I tried out their Signature Slimming Treatment, the Lavender Lipo Therapy.

Firstly, I had the Lavender Sea Salt Therapy where I just sat in a steam room to open the pores on my skin for better absorbency, then they scrubbed the treatment on me and I laid under the warm blanket for awhile. My consultant told me that this can help to:
• Remove dead skin cells
• Reduce water retention
• Increase metabolic rate

Next was the Electrical Muscle Stimulation. For this, I just had to lie on a bed while the machine presses on my targeted areas. My consultant told me that this:
• Helps body to build lean muscle mass
• Quickens the body’s metabolism
• Stimulates up to 24 hours of fat burning
It supposedly achieves the same results as doing exercise. What an awesome creation for lazy people like me! Haha.

One of my main concerns was how safe and painless the treatments are.

So I felt assured when I was told that the safe and easy solutions at London Weight Management uses 100% natural botanical products and specialized slimming equipment with no side-effects, and lasting results with a guarantee of 8-22cm total body loss and up to 2kg in just 1 session! At the end my first session I lost 11.5cm and 500g! What I love is that no surgery, no injection and no pills required! Of course, for significant results you will have to do consistent treatments till you reach your desired weight! I learnt from the consultant about how and why when you are thin it's difficult to get fat but once you are slightly fat, weight gain becomes rapid. I find it so true!

Some weight issues faced by women which London Weight Management can solve easily, without the need to go through starvation, gruelling diets or rigorous exercise regimes that are difficult to maintain:

• Overall Weight Gain
• Post-natal Weight Gain
• Bulging Tummy
• Flabby Arms
• Bulky "Thunder" Thighs
• Sagging Buttocks
• Cellulite / Stretch Marks
• Water Retention / Toxins

Good news for my readers!

London weight management has kindly offered an exclusive promotion to my readers! Simply quote “esther xie” and they will give you a FREE Slimming Treatment! Yes, it will be the same Lavender Lipo Therapy that I had! But you got to be quick because they are limiting it to the FIRST 50 readers only. So hurry and give them a call now at 6222 1234!

Wisdom Tooth Surgery

Just went to remove my wisdom tooth today!

I was super dreading it and kept whining about it yesterday to everyone around me. Then, today came...

These were my thoughts:

Yesterday

Less than 24 hours to the surgery.
The clock is going tiktoktiktok.
My heart is going pikpokpikpok.

This morning

Things running through my mind:
1. I'm scared of the GA injection.
2. I'm scared of post-surgery
3. Is wisdom tooth pain more painful or wisdom tooth post-surgery more painful?
4. I'm so hungry
5. What if I accidentally laugh after the surgery? can imagine how painful that would be!
6. How do I know if I'm suitable for GA? I've never went under GA and my parents/sis have not either.
7. Hopefully the numbing cream on my gums can last the entire day. Or till it heals.
8. OMG I think the bleeding would be horrible. I dunwan swallow blood and I dunwan change gauze. Heard after GA will feel like vomiting. Vomit with bleeding gums?!
9. I'm really hungry.
10. Cannot eat cannot drink. But I'm hungry.
11. I'm so awake. GA really can make me sleep?
12. Some people say it's nth but some say it's excruciating.
13. Couldn't sleep last night. Too worried I think.
14. Aiyo really can already imagine how painful cut-up gums would be.
15. Disgusting leh.
16. Hungry.

11.50am

On the way to the dental clinic. Scared max. Suddenly felt that bf is extremely unsympathetic and not comforting at all. Sighhhhh.

12.15pm

My dentist say that I confirm will pain 3-4 days. :( hope he is bluff me one! Told him I hope the numbness last the entire days so that I feel less pain. Now I regret saying this. (scroll down for why)

12.30pm

When I finally sat on the dentist chair, I suddenly have a strong urge to run away. I asked the doctor what to take note of after going under general anesthesia. He said "don't anyhow sign things".... Haha!

The anesthesia took longer than I thought to take effect. From what I read online, it's usually by the count of 3. But I still had a conversation about Birkins and Chanel and diamond rings with the doctor before I suddenly fell asleep! I even remember how in my mind I praise myself for being brave because I was calm when the injection went in.... though my heart was pounding hard!

1.30pm - 2pm?

When I woke up, the surgery was still ongoing. So scary! The doctor is stitching or something? I see people hovering over me. I tried to signal that I'm awake but nobody seem to notice or notice already but don't care.

Now that I think back, I think it's probably a dream?

2.15pm

Woke up for real. Wanted to continue sleeping but bf told me to sleep in his car instead while he drive me back. And so I did~ Attempted to talk to him but he didn't understand a single word. I remember he stopped midway and went down to buy ice cream and Lao Ban beancurd~ Didn't notice him coming back to the car and when I woke up, we were at my house.

3.15pm

Finally home. Now I'm worried about how to change my gauze and swallow down so many medicine later. My mouth is totally numb and I can't really open it! Hope it won't be too disgusting. I laid on my bed and tried to sleep while Bf stayed in the house with me till mum gets home.

4pm

Mum is home! Unlike bf, mum understood my mumbling words! Haha.

Just realize that i forgot to ask the dentist a lot of questions for post-surgery.

Then, while trying to take out the gauze in the bathroom, I suddenly felt my vision blacking-out and the strong urge to vomit and faint at the same time. Probably the side effects of the anesthesia.

I touched my lips and realize I really cannot feel anything at all! Tried drinking water and most of it went down my shirt instead of down my throat. How to swallow my pills!! I was shocked because I expected like 1 pill and 1 painkiller, but I have 8 different types of pills to take for recovery. Put in new gauze after my pills but I think I didn't put at the correct spot. Feel like gagging!

5.45pm

The numbness is still going strong. Just placed ice near my face to reduce swelling.

Oh, and can feel a little bit of pain coming up already. But the painkillers are supposed to last 8 hours for each dosage... Anyway, I can't really close my mouth properly now and I feel like I keep drooling. Haha.

6pm

Oh no, I just read that sneezing might cause this painful thing called dry socket. Scary max.

Now, I hope for a quick and smooth recovery! Please let my stitches dissolve properly on its own ok! After this, time to worry about gum treatment and braces. Hope it will be easy breezy and painless!

6.09pm

Omg I'm so hungry. Only had a small cup of ice cream since last night's dinner!

7.30pm

Eating Lao Ban Beancurd and thinking what a good "wisdom tooth surgery" food it is. Yummy, filling, soft, cold.

7.37pm

A call from the dentist. Wow, after-ops-care! Anyway, the dentist told me that right after the surgery, even after they close the machine and removed the drip, and tried to wake me up, I was still in deep sleep. They guess I was too tired and let me continue sleeping until bf came along and woke me up. Haha. Anyway, out of the 4 that was extracted, 3 of them came out in one piece and only one had to be broken down. The numbness has gone off a little and now it's only a little numb + some aching, but bearable type. Phew! Hopefully this is the max!! Have to thank the dentist for giving me stronger painkillers after knowing how afraid I am of the pain! Can't wait to fully recover!

Instant updates on www.dayre.me/estherxie! Follow me there!

Anyway, sometime back I was feeling unhappy and these are my shopping therapy hauls! New wallet, two-sided floral teacup, ice pop mold, ice pop storage, ice pop tools, icecream cone holder, iPad cover, cake holder, Arianne and Amrita Singh earrings! Original price worth $600 over but I got it at a superb deal thanks to colleagues with bargaining talent and some

So anyway, I used the ice-pop maker to make orange ice pops one day! Extremely easy!

After finishing the orange ice pops, I poured tap-water in and they are now the ice-packs for my swelling post-surgery cheeks. So useful~!

I want to....

I want to do nothing, watch videos on Youtube, shop, travel and see the world with my loved ones, take pictures, update instagram, blog, and enjoy life. And stay healthy and safe.

I also want to have SGD10,000 appear in my bank account miraculously every day at 12 noon to support this lifestyle.

I also want to live a thousand years. Or more.

And I don't want to pluck wisdom tooth :(

Tomorrow is my wisdom tooth surgery appointment. At 12pm.

I AM SO SCARED.

I'm going under General Anesthesia (first time!) and having all 4 wisdom tooth removed. I wonder if I am able to take it -_- Even period cramps sometimes I feel like I am going to faint. Why people feel no pain during plastic surgery but a minor surgery like wisdom tooth extraction hurts so much?

District 10 Brunch

Some time back, I was invited to District 10 Bar & Restaurant to try out the brunch food. I was extremely looking forward to it because I love brunch food!

We were hosted at the UE Square outlet, which was newly revamped with a new look. The bar, dining hall and a private dining room is accompanied by a windy alfresco area, great for breathing in the weekend air while tucking into brunch. New highlights ranging from yummy bar bites to gourmet dishes refreshed the menu, and now has a more extensive wine list with boutique labels.

Lets try out the food! Most of the time, Eggs Benedict is my top brunch choice. The Eggs Benedict with Sauteed Spinach, Smoked Salmon & Hollandaise Sauce ($16++) here didn't disappoint. Although the muffin was a little too soft to my liking, the spinach and smoked salmon went well with the eggs. Thumbs up!

The Pizza with Portobello Mushrooms, Tomato Sauce & Truffle Oil ($26++) was my favourite from the meal!! A MUST TRY!!!! The fragrance from the truffle oil was extremely strong and the pizza was especially delicious, I couldn't resist the last piece even though I was extremely full at the end of the meal. During Happy Hours (11am – 8pm daily), besides 1 for 1 on Draft Beer, Housepour Spirits & Exotic Gin Tonics, the Gourmet Pizzas at also at $10 nett!

Hoegaarden Battered Fish & Chips with Mint Mushy Peas & Tartare Sauce ($22++). This is highly recommended on their menu and i saw quite a number of people ordering it that day. The portion is huge and the fish is fresh. Love it!

Inspired by local flavors, the Pandan-Coconut Pancake with Gula Melaka Syrup ($9++) was an interesting creation. I give this thumbs up as well!

Had a cup of freshly squeezed orange juice ($9++) to go with everything. Nowadays very few places serve real orange juices and I'm glad this does.

See the bouncy castle behind? It is there during the weekends for parents to enjoy their hearty brunch while the kids can play all they want! Awesome!

And if you are looking to pamper yourself a little more, here's the Brunch Promotion: Add a dash of indulgence and luxury with District 10's Moet and Chandon Champagne promotion, one of the most affordable around at $68++ a bottle!

For parties/gathering up to 12 people, you may book the prettily done up Antinori Private Dining Room, which also has a little alfresco area. The room also offers a customised menu curated by Chef Luca according to budget and specific requests!
