Birthday Part 1 - The Garden

As I wanted to spend my actual birthday with the family, bf celebrated it for me in advance a day before.

He came to pick me up at my house and off we head to The Garden, located at Sentosa.



This place is located deep in Sentosa and because his GPS gave the wrong route, we ended up parking quite a long walking distance away from the restaurant. It was such a scorching hot day! We walked and walked and walked and finally in front of a real garden, I asked him, "Are you sure The Garden is a restaurant and not just a real garden??" Hahaha.



And we finally arrived at this pretty and quiet place.

I wonder why bf brought me here, because I'm definitely not a health-conscious person! I always had the belief that healthy food are rarely yummier than not-so-healthy food. But the food at The Garden is really not bad!

















Meal was quite okay, favourite was the Scallops! Runner up would be the Chicken Roulade. Though the meat was tough, the mushrooms that came with it was yummy!

The restaurant is overall quite a nice place for a quiet, lovely date.

The Coffee Shot

Just another typical weekend date! Bf brought me to this place called The Coffee Shot. I have never heard of The Coffee Shot before this though. Honestly, there are so many cafes in Singapore, we cannot finish exploring all of them even if we have brunch every weekend!

Honestly, I usually don't remember much about the taste.... unless it's superb. Most cafes serve average food, but at some places, I finish everything on the plate because it's really so good.

This place is quite average in my opinion, but still not too bad. Probably because I don't really like honey and honey was served on my toast. I prefer butter, but that's just me.

The eggs were quite okay. One thing though, the food only arrived a longggggg time after we ordered.

I forgot if bf's dish was good or bad. 

We tried the Old School Buns, which are actually bread with luncheon meat and fried eggs sandwiched in between. 

Bf's coffee with honey. I really don't like honey :x

My normal and safe choice of cafe latte. :D

My verdict? Not bad actually, but I won't be back any time soon unless I'm in the vicinity. Many better cafes out there! 

Skyve New Menu

My 2nd time dining at Skyve! Previously, I went during the day and loved the relaxed vibe. It's such a nice place away from the buzz of the city although it's quite near town! This lovely restaurant is just located a mere few minutes walk from Newton MRT.





This time though, I was there for dinner and the place had a totally different ambiance!


Previously Skyve Elementary Bistro, it was recently renamed to Skyve Wine Bistro, which complements the wide range of wines available in the cellar.



There are three main sections to the restaurant. The outdoors, the sofa area (mainly for after-drinks), and main dining area. I feel that this place is very suitable for birthday or engagement celebrations and yes, the space can be booked for private events and customized accordingly to suit the event size.

There's a live band around the sofa area on Wednesday and Friday Nights as well!

With a newly revamped menu, rest assure that Skyve's main feature, the sous vide cooking technique, is still very much emphasized in food preparation.

I spent a long time scrolling through the many beauties at Twistofblack, completely spoilt for choice.

I particularly selected the first chunky gold piece because I felt that it would match almost any outfit. I also liked how the design is unique yet classic. The third piece is also another one that easily goes with anything!

And, can you guess which is my ultimate favourite one out of these three? Yep, the floral gold piece! The moment I set my eyes on it, I fell in love with it. I knew I had to get it!

Carpark Adventure

This week, I watched two movies that I enjoyed alot!

First one was Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs 2, tickets courtesy of Churpchurp! :) I remember liking the first movie because of its cute concept. The 2nd movie is also cute, with its adorable 'animal-food' characters and funny food-puns. Lots of hilarious moments too. Go watch it!




Then, I went to watch About Time today! I liked the time-travel concept in "The Time Traveler's Wife", so I figured this would be quite interesting too. Although it is packaged alot like a romantic movie, I think it was quite funny and had a deeper meaning to it. Many plot holes though, but if you don't think too much into the logic and inconsistencies of the butterfly effect, it is quite a nice movie!



So anyway, after the movie me and bf decided to head to Golden Mile Complex for Mookata. We drove into Golden Mile Complex, but after getting out of the car, we walked through a door and got into a very unfamiliar place. The shops are all closed and shutters closed. Then, we saw a big crowded steamboat place. After passing by those people (it did look like a scene from a Hong Kong ghost movie. haha), we went into the quiet atrium area. Then, bf realized that we were in Golden Mile tower, which was one building away from the complex. So we found a door and walked out into an alley which had incense burnings and a pub girl squatting by the side. All this felt very "another dimension". Then, we walked to Golden Mile Complex and had our yummy meal. We figured that the carpark was probably linked to both buildings, although I felt that the carpark wasn't that long.

When it was time to go back, we decided to get back to the carpark the way we went out from it. So, we walked outside to Golden Mile Tower. We went back to the steamboat place but none of the doors near it leads to the carpark. So we walked around the same level looking for the right door. Nope, nothing. Then, we took a lift to Level 1 and saw the security table some distance away. The security guard told us to take the lift down to basement. So we did. But nope, no carpark. We were back at the steamboat level. Afterwards, we tried going up to other levels and the lift seemed spoiled because it didn't land on the same floor height (like, the lift floor was lower than the real floor). We walked out into a small carpark area which definitely didn't look like it would stretch out to Golden Mile Complex. Bf pointed out that it doesn't look like the same carpark we parked in. Then, we saw another lift so I told bf to try that one. Main reason was because I didn't want to risk going back to that spoilt lift. Doors open and we are back at the security table. So bf said, lets go back to Golden Mile Complex and walk in from the carpark entrance, the way the car went in. We did that and found our car.

The experience is just so weird!!! It felt eerie because of how old and empty Golden Mile Tower was. There must be a logical reason to this and we are both just bad at remembering directions. But still weird cos we tried every single door we see and none led to the carpark with our car in it!

Layer it on!

I'm a lazy dresser. I prefer to buy dresses with pretty prints and safe cutting, pair with some accessories and out the door I go. I seldom ever pair top and bottom, or do layering.

However, I realize that sometimes an extra layer, like an outerwear, makes a blah outfit look better!

I tried experimenting with this blue floral vest from www.missqueenie.com. The vivid burst of colours on this vest caught my eye and initially when I got it I wanted to pair it with shorts like usual but last minute I decide to layer it on top of a plain denim dress! I quite like the final result!
